What is Assisted Living?
Assisted living for seniors balances the need for dignified clinical services with safe, nurturing family-style community life. Swan Brook offers residents an intimate setting located within the colorful tapestry of a small-town country neighborhood. Our residents’ need for privacy and independence is respected and encouraged.
Do you have cable TV?
Yes. Cable/computer connections are available in each apartment, in addition to cable TV in all parlor areas. Swan Brook also offers free internet access in our activity area.
Is there a place to park my car?
Yes, there is a convenient parking lot at the rear of the building.
Is smoking permitted?
Smoking is not permitted within the building.
Can we have pets?
Pets are not permitted.
Are young children allowed to visit?
Yes
Are there kitchens in each apartment so that residents can cook if they choose?
Apartments are equipped with microwave ovens, sinks, and refrigerator/freezers. There is a country kitchen for preparation of regular meals and for baking.
How do residents get to doctors’ appointments?
Family is encouraged to participate in medical appointments, but arrangements may be made with Swan Brook to transport residents to and from appointments if necessary.
Are apartments furnished?
No. Residents should bring familiar personal furnishings with them in order to more smoothly transition into Swan Brook’s community setting.
Are window coverings and shower curtains included?
As with any private home, residents provide these items to align with personal taste.
How are the meals served?
Meals are served in the dining room, restaurant style. Residents choose from a widely varied menu.
Is there assigned seating in the dining room?
Yes. Residents want to be assured of dining with their friends at mealtime.
How many minutes of personal care do I get, and what does that include?
Up to 45 minutes per day of personal care. Care may include, but not be limited to: showering, oral care, grooming, dressing, and assistance with self medication management.
Do you have laundry services?
Yes. Personal laundry is collected daily, while linens are changed once per week. This is included in the rental fee and is NOT an extra charge.
What about housekeeping services?
Housekeeping is completed daily, with vacuuming three times per week.
Do you have an entrance or community fee?
There are no assessment, entrance, or community fees at Swan Brook.
Who pays for utilities?
Utilities are included. Residents pay only for cable TV service and telephone.
